Foodie Foray 2021

The Foodie Foray is a celebration of local food and the distinctive local dishes found across the Forest of Bowland.
Whether you fancy finding out more about the local delicacies that thrive within our landscape, finding food for free amongst the hedgerows or tucking into a locally sourced feast, there’s an event for everyone.

Foraging WalkMON 20: Seasonal Foraging Walk (FULLY BOOKED)

Time: 13.30 to 15.30
Location: Chatburn (details of meeting point will be sent out after booking)
Theme: Foraging & wild foods

Terrain guide 3 (11), 3 miles approx

Join us for a wild foraging walk around Chatburn with expert Adrian Rose from North West Bushcraft.  Adrian will take you on a short walk  to seek out wild foraged foods such as fungi, medicinal plants & trees. 

Adrian shares his knowledge of bushcraft and wild food foraging by teaching various day workshops and weekend courses for both individuals and groups, he has been featured several times on BBC Radio lecturing on wild foods and wild food foraging.

Wild Food and Medicine WalkTUE 21: Wild Food and Medicine Forage (FULLY BOOKED)

Time: 13.00 - 15.00
Location: Barrowford Heritage Centre
Theme: Foraging, herbalism, wild foods, resilience, sustainability, health and wellbeing​

Take a walk with Danielle Kay to the wild edges of Barrowford Park and see what autumnal hedgerow delights are available at this time of year and how to enjoy them for yourself.

Wednesday 22nd September (CANCELLED)

  • SEASONAL FORAGING & FEASTING

Time: 10.00 to 14.30
Location: Gisburn Forest
Cost: £35

Join us for a wild foraging walk around Gisburn Forest with expert Adrian Rose from North West Bushcraft.  Adrian will take you on a short walk (approx 3 miles) to seek out wild foraged foods such as fungi, medicinal plants & trees. 

We'll then take a short journey by car to Dale House Barn for a 2 course foraged feast put together by the talented Dominque Ashford, owner of Dale House Barn and B&B.

The menu will be finalised nearer to the date, but this is an idea of what the lunch will include: home made breads and forage flavoured butters, Moroccan spiced wood pigeon pie, “Pine and Apple” pudding and homemade cordial.

Please wear appropriate footwear and waterproofs if required.

About Our Hosts:

Adrian shares his knowledge of bushcraft and wild food foraging by teaching various day workshops and weekend courses for both individuals and groups, he has been featured several times on BBC Radio lecturing on wild foods and wild food foraging. 

Dominique is a classically trained chef who has worked at the Houses of Parliament, and with the Roux brothers and Aiden Byrne. She now runs Dalehouse Barn and B&B along with her partner Andrew. Between them they offer beautiful accommodation and a small menu of carefully selected local produce with an emphasis on game.
