14 Champion Species are at the heart of the Forest of Bowland Nature Recovery Plan. Most are rare or threatened and of conservation concern. These charismatic species provide inspiration for people to care for nature and as indicator species, they can show that an ecosystem or habitat is healthy.
We have launched a series of 14 beautifully illustrated pin badges produced by Dr Selina Ellis-Gray from Salt Marsh Studios. These collectible and limited-edition designs offer a sustainable alternative to traditional enamel pins. Proudly supporting a UK company, the collection features eco-metal badges crafted from recycled metals.
The pin badges, along with species postcards, posters and the artist's sketch book are also available to purchase from the following outlets:
- Pendle Heritage Centre: Colne Rd, Barrowford, Burnley BB9 6JQ
- Platform Gallery & Visitor Information Centre: Station Rd, Clitheroe, BB7 2JT
- The Cabin, Barley: Barley BB12 9JX
Monies raised from the initiative will be donated to Champion Bowland
If you would like to purchase an individual badge and can't get to an outlet, please email: hetty.byrne@lancashire.gov.uk
Badges will cost £5 + £2pp
