BBC Scotland came to the Forest of Bowland in August to film an episode of CBBC's "Ed and Oucho's Excellent Inventions" programme featuring the rainbow catcher design of local girl Mollie Balshaw and starring the backdrop scenery of the Forest of Bowland, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The BBC visited several possible locations before deciding on 2 superb locations; Gazegill Organic Farm, Rimington www.gazegillorganics.co.uk where Mollie thought up the idea, and Clough Bottom Farm, Bashall Eaves www.cloughbottom.co.uk.
Gazegill are used to hosting school visits so were unfazed by the arrival of scores of crew/extras/catering people shouting the odds and vying for attention. They even provided a camera for the BBC to borrow to take a few still photos; the BBC came without one! Likewise, Harry Backhouse at Clough Bottom Farm, award winning self catering holiday cottages and conference centre (and much more!) smoothly dealt with the passing film circus and cleaned up afterwards. All in a day’s work!
‘Ed & Oucho’s Excellent Inventions’ which will be broadcast in January 2010.
