1. First, a pulp bath is made by mixing shredded, soaked paper with water and a small amount of PVA glue. (Do this bit with an adult as there's lots of water involved!)
2. Next, a board and deckle is used to scoop the pulp out of the water again - this time it's nice and flat on the frame.
3. Take the top of the frame away and gently lay the pulp onto a piece of absorbent cloth.
4. Press down gently then carefully lift the board off the cloth, leaving the pulp behind.
5. Decorate your "paper" with petals, fruit tea or small bits of coloured pulp. Layer up another piece of cloth then another frame of pulpy paper until you have made as many as you need.
6. Now you need to squeeze out as much water as possible. Anita, our paper maker, used a clever press which she had made but you could put your cloths between two boards, take them outside and carefully stand on top of the "sandwich" until the water runs out. Get someone to help you so you don't fall off!
7. Peel apart each of the cloths, with the paper attached and hang them up somewhere to dry (although don't put them over the radiator!)
8. After a few days, voila! Your finished paper.
9. And here's some of the gift tags which Anita made with her recycled paper!! Be inventive and see what you can make.
