SDF Projects 2010/11

Although the SDF scheme is not open to applications in 2010/11 we have been able to support two projects which had deferred their schemes from 2009.

Solar power at Brabins Endowed Primary School

PV panels at Brabin's SchoolThe first of these was at Brabins Endowed Primary school in Chipping. Already a green flag Eco school, Brabins were keen to further their commitment to sustainability by installing photo voltaic cells on a new school roof to generate their own solar power. They were successful in securing major grants from the Low Carbon Building Scheme and others, and SDF closed the funding gap with a 10% grant of £6000.

Improved biodiversity with new fish pass

New Talbot Bridge fish passOur other project for 2010 was carried out by Ribble Catchment Conservation Trust as part of an ongoing scheme to improve Bashall Brook for conservation. A small grant of £3563 supported the building of a new fish pass at Talbot Bridge to enable migrating fish to move up and down the brook more freely and improve the biodiversity it supports.
