Why not display some of our attractively designed cards in your business showing these 5 easy steps. One of the key ingredients in sustainable tourism is encouraging our visitors to use their cars less. This might involve providing information on walks from your door, or encouraging guests to hire a bike locally and explore on two wheels. There are plenty of resources on walking and cycling elsewhere on our website - why not download some of our web walks and provide these for your guests
It may also be possible to promote the use of public transport if your premises are located near to a bus route - check out this website to identify bus routes and timetables in Bowland at the Countrygoer website (www.countrygoer.co.uk/Bowland.html). The B10 bus route through Bowland, and the Lune Villager are particularly well placed for walking and some of our webwalks feature these areas.
Finally, you can direct your guests to arrive at your premises using public transport. Just by listing train and bus services before providing driving directions may encourage guests to be'green travellers'. And if you can arrange pick-ups from the nearest station to help with their luggage, that's even better!
For more information about our work on sustainable transport see our recent report in the publications section of this site.
