Green Tourism

The Green Tourism Business Scheme Logo

The Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) is the leading sustainable tourism certification scheme in the UK. Businesses are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against a rigorous set of criteria covering a range of areas, including energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and more to achieve a Gold, Silver or Bronze award. For more information visit www.green-business.co.uk

The Green Tourism Business Scheme have selected a number of businesses who recently won an award in Bowland, and have created a series of case studies to highlight good practice. The case studies have been produced thematically to highlight the many ways in which a business can be acknowledged within the scheme for their commitment to green tourism.

Each case study describes the business and highlights the economic, environmental and social benefits for the business adopting a green approach to tourism. They also include useful web links to further information. Click on the pdf link next to each theme to download the case study.

Walk of the Month:

Bluebell Woodland

| Bluebell Woods

A wonderful time of year to see the bluebells in Bowland! Why not do this short walk starting from Calder Vale - on Sundays in May the ladies of Calder Vale run ‘bluebell teas’: homemade refreshments are available in the village hall, in aid of the church mission hall.
